Data Bytes

I work at the University of Michigan School of Information Marketing & Communications department. The field of information operates at the intersection of people, data and technology. Our audience loves data, particularly around issues of tech, esports, privacy, social media responsibility and other social issues. Data bytes are social media posts that are linked to a news story. What I love about creating these illustrations for data bytes is that I can employ my sense of humor and ability to "talk" in a visual shorthand.

This is one of my favorite data bytes. Retro video games are a reference I have made in a number of data byte illustrations

I have done many data bytes that use pie and bar charts to illustrate the featured number.

I have often used the image of planet earth to illustrate extremely large numbers.
