Mark for the First-Generation initiative at the University of Michigan. First-generation students are individuals who are in the first generation in their family to get a four-year degree. They are identified as having certain strengths and vulerabilities that warrant special social and academic support. We named the initiative “Gen First” to help brand it as proprietary to the University of Michigan.
